Job summary

Binnie LLC in Burnaby seeks a detail-oriented Survey Technician to join our Geomatics Group, based out in Burnaby. You will help process survey data for highway engineering and land surveying projects in BC, working in an office-based role.

The position offers relocation reimbursement if relocation is required and potential for career advancement within a dynamic team.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or Degree in Geomatics Engineering Technology or GIS
  • Minimum 6 years of Survey Technician office experience
  • Minimum of 1 year field experience
  • High level of understanding of survey principles and calculations
  • Proficient working knowledge of BC legal surveys
  • Strong working knowledge of traverse adjustments and control network analysis
  • Extensive working knowledge of Civil3D, Trimble Business Center
  • Strong working knowledge of conventional and GPS data collection procedures, processing, and quality control
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to conduct complex survey calculations (coordinate geometry, volumes, cross sections, etc.)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Eligible for Registration as AScT or C.Tech. with ASTTBC

Responsibilities

  • Manage, analyze, and process survey data using Trimble Business Center and Civil 3D
  • Interpret and edit field data, notes and sketches to ensure clear understanding of data captured and field procedures
  • Create 3D surfaces, contours, alignment, and cross sections
  • Research survey records and land titles to obtain information about property boundaries
  • Create survey base plans, legal plans, cross sections, surfaces and other drawings from survey data
  • Develop and implement quality control procedures
  • Provide complex survey calculations for Surveyors (coordinates, alignments, surfaces, hardcopy plans) based on client-supplied drawings
  • Work closely with Project Managers to deliver the project on schedule
  • Involved in developing and implementing survey methodologies, and providing recommendations to Project Managers
  • Perform QC on survey data and various survey plans

Job description

You love math, logic, order, and seeing a project takes shape in a survey plan. You work with survey equipment and software, but it is the vectors and attributes that really draw you in. You provide the data, the essential starting point for many exciting new projects.

Binnie is looking for a detailed-oriented Survey Technician to join our Geomatics Group, to be based out in Burnaby location.

As part of our Geomatics Group, you will help with processing survey data for a wide range of highway engineering and land surveying projects around the Lower Mainland and throughout British Columbia.

This position is a full-time office-based position and offers opportunity to gain valuable work experience and knowledge.

YOUR ROLE:

The salary for this position is commensurate with experience; the salary range for this position is $84,930- $103,700 annually. The final salary for this role may vary based on several factors, including relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs. Please note that the salary range provided in this job posting may be subject to change for business purposes.
