Job summary

Metrolinx, headquartered in downtown Toronto, seeks a senior Labour, Employment, and Human Rights Lawyer to join its busy Legal Services team. You will advise senior leaders on employment issues across a transit network, oversee litigation, and coordinate with external counsel on complex matters.

Ideal candidates have robust experience in labour and employment law, strong negotiation and drafting skills, and a proven ability to lead strategic legal initiatives in a dynamic, regulated environment.

Qualifications

• Completion of a law degree (JD or LLB)
• Senior experience as a lawyer in labour, employment, human rights law
• Bar admission to the Law Society of Ontario and good standing

Responsibilities

• Provide proactive labour, employment, and human rights legal advice to internal clients
• Manage litigation including appearances before tribunals and courts
• Direct external counsel on litigation, negotiations and transactional matters
• Draft and review complex contracts and legal documents
• Lead and participate in strategy development with senior leaders
• Advise on negotiations, settlements, and collective bargaining
• Contribute to training and mentorship of junior lawyers and staff
• Present to senior management and division heads
