Job summary

Axelon Services Corporation in Montreal is seeking a senior Java developer to build and enhance Market Risk applications. You will join an Agile squad with members in Montreal, Budapest, India, London, and New York, following DevOps practices and delivering robust solutions.

The role emphasizes server-side Java, Spring, Spark, and SQL, with opportunities to improve data processing pipelines and collaborate with business partners to shape risk tooling. On-site presence 3 days per week is required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years hands-on Java (server-side) experience with Spring and RDBMS.
• Experience with distributed data processing using Apache Spark and Python.
• Strong OO design, data structures, algorithms and concurrency knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Develop new and enhance existing Market Risk applications.
• Be part of an Agile squad with members in Montreal, Budapest, India, London, and New York, following Agile principles and applying DevOps practices.
• Collaborate with business partners to shape the tooling and technology landscape of Risk Management.

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years hands‑on experience with Core-Java (server-side), Spring, RDBMS.
• Experience with distributed data processing pipelines using Apache Spark, Python, and other tools and languages.
• Strong object-oriented design and development skills, data-structures and algorithms, and design patterns.
• Understanding of multi-threaded applications and hands‑on experience with concurrency packages.
• Strong experience with relational databases logical modeling and querying large relational databases in an optimized manner.
• Ability to write scripts in Shell/Perl/Python.
• Experience with Agile Development.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently following proper coding standards.

Preferred Skills

• Risk/Financial Systems development experience.
• Automated testing.
