Job summary

Citi is seeking a Senior Java Developer to join our Applications Development team. You will design, build, and own high-performance Java applications that underpin critical financial services at global scale. The role is hands-on, focusing on clean code, scalable services, and reliable production systems.

You will work in a hybrid environment with a mix of in-office and remote days, contributing to architectural decisions and cross-team collaboration across Citi’s engineering landscape.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional Java development experience.
• Expert-level Java, RESTful API design, and Spring/Spring Boot experience.
• Relational databases (Oracle, SQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB).
• Cloud-native platforms including OpenShift and Kubernetes; messaging with MQ and Kafka.
• Clean code, design patterns, and test-driven development.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and own high-performance Java applications for critical services.
• Architect RESTful APIs and scalable backend services using Spring/Spring Boot.
• Translate business requirements into technical specifications and designs.
• Adopt emerging technologies to enhance the application stack.
• Maintain automated tests across unit, integration, and performance levels.
• Lead peer code reviews and maintain production system reliability.
• Ensure collaboration with analysts and project managers to deliver high-quality software.
