Job summary

Citi Mississauga is seeking a Java Backend Developer to join a team modernizing CitiDirect’s Payment architecture. You will design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable back-end services using Core Java, Spring Framework 6, Spring Boot 3, and Spring Cloud.

The role emphasizes microservices, Kafka, MongoDB, Oracle, and strong testing with JUnit/Mockito, with exposure to CI/CD, Docker/Kubernetes, and agile practices.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of Java development with a strong Core Java foundation.
• Experience with Spring Framework, Spring Boot and Spring Cloud.
• Hands-on experience implementing microservices architectures.
• Proficiency with Apache Kafka for event-driven systems.
• Proficiency with MongoDB and Oracle SQL; performance tuning.

• Familiarity with containerization and CI/CD pipelines.

We are seeking a Java Backend Developer to join a group modernizing CitiDirect’s Payment architecture, who has a technical curiosity and is willing to learn new skills. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in Core Java with a desire to learn tips and tricks for integrating AI into the development process.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable, and high-performance Java-based backend services
• Implement microservices using Spring Framework 6, Spring Boot 3 and Spring Cloud
• Implement event-driven architectures using Apache Kafka
• Work with MongoDB and Oracle - design schemas and optimize queries
• Implement and maintain comprehensive unit and integration tests
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of our development processes and best practices

Required Qualifications:

• 3+ years of experience in Java development, with a strong command of Core Java concepts
• Experience with Spring Framework, including Spring Boot and Spring Cloud
• Experienced implementing microservices architecture
• Proficiency in working with Apache Kafka, including designing and implementing event-driven systems
• Proficiency with MongoDB, including schema design, complex queries, and performance optimization for large-scale applications
• Understanding of NoSQL database concepts and best practices
• Experience with Oracle databases and SQL, and performance optimization
• Expertise in RESTful API design principles
• Proficiency in writing unit and integration tests using frameworks like JUnit and Mockito

Preferred Qualifications:

• Familiarity with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
• Understanding of Agile methodologies
• Solid understanding of payments industry, including various payment systems and processes
• Familiarity with ISO 20022 standards, and their application in payments messaging
• Contributions to open-source projects
