Job summary

Zeidler Architecture in Vancouver is seeking a Senior Interior Designer to drive design development and manage documentation for large projects. You will coordinate with consultants and clients, lead interior design tasks, and oversee FF&E strategy to ensure design intent and code compliance.

The role requires 7+ years of experience, registration as a designer, and strong leadership. This is an in-office position with site presence, offering competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Professional Degree or diploma in Interior Design from a recognized institution.
• 7+ years of architectural experience with increasing responsibility; proven track record leading complex interior projects.
• Registered Interior Designer in good standing with a Canadian provincial interior design association (e.g., ARIDO, IDA, IDIBC).
• Prior security clearance with PSPC is considered an asset.
• Demonstrated project management skills, including scope, schedule, resource, and financial oversight.
• Advanced proficiency with BIM platforms, particularly Revit; familiarity with AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, MS Office and Vantagepoint (Deltek).
• Knowledge of local construction systems, sustainable building practices, technical detailing, and QA/QC methodologies.
• Experience preparing construction tender documents and coordinating authority submissions.
• Strong experience with internal design reviews, quality control, and client-facing coordination.
• PMP certification is considered an asset.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and lead multidisciplinary teams with clarity and professionalism.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Willingness and ability to travel for site visits, client meetings, and professional development as needed

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review contract documents, ensuring alignment with design intent and code requirements.
• Lead FF&E strategy, selections, and documentation.
• Manage project execution from start to finish, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, scope definition, resourcing, and profitability.
• Coordinate and oversee project activities, ensuring alignment with office Project Delivery processes, filing systems, and documentation standards.
• Attend site meetings, perform site reviews, and manage contract administration activities such as review shop drawings, issuing site instructions, and addressing RFIs.
• Identify and manage project risks, escalate issues as required, and implement mitigation strategies.
• Contribute to the development of proposals and business development initiatives for the studio.
• Lead regular internal project meetings and communicate status updates to Operations and the Partner-in-Charge, at a minimum monthly.

Job Summary

The Senior Interior Designeris a senior-level interior designer responsible for driving design development,managing documentation, and coordinating with consultants and clients. Thisrole leads interior design tasks within large projects or manages larger-scaleinteriors projects independently.

Key Responsibilities

Design and Documentation

• Leadthe development of interior design concepts in collaboration with designleadership.


• Overseedesign detailing, material selection, and documentation production.


• Prepareand review contract documents, ensuring alignment with design intent andcode requirements.


• LeadFF&E strategy, selections, and documentation.

Project Support and Coordination

• Strong knowledge of building codes,accessibility standards, and construction methods.


• Manage project execution from start tofinish, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, scope definition,resourcing, and profitability.


• Manage contracts with clients andsubconsultants.


• Support marketing team with thedevelopment of proposals and fees.


• Establish and adhere to officeexpectations for financial performance, staffing efficiency, and projectmilestones.


• Lead regular internal project meetings andcommunicate status updates to Operations and the Partner-in-Charge, at aminimum monthly.


• Coordinate and oversee project activities,ensuring alignment with office Project Delivery processes, filing systems,and documentation standards.


• Attend site meetings, perform sitereviews, and manage contract administration activities such as reviewingshop drawings, issuing site instructions, and addressing RFIs.


• Prepare and manage authority submissionpackages, including building permit approvals.


• Identify and manage project risks,escalate issues as required, and implement mitigation strategies.


• Ensure all project work complies withhealth and safety policies and applicable legal requirements.


• Contribute to the development of proposalsand business development initiatives for the studio.
