Job summary

SLR Consulting (Americas) seeks an Instrumentation Engineer to stamp drawings, support backfill plant design, commission instrumentation and industrial control systems, and mentor staff. You will contribute to the Sudbury team on busy projects.

This full‑time role requires deep expertise in PLC, DCS, SCADA, and process automation, plus the ability to lead complex projects and travel as needed.

Qualifications

• 10-15 years combined consulting and mining industry experience.
• Experience thoroughly checking I&C deliverables.
• Experience commissioning instrumentation and industrial control systems.
• Degree in Electrical, Instrumentation, or related Engineering discipline.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Registered or eligible to register as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng).
• Willingness and ability to travel as required.

Responsibilities

• Provide E&I engineering support to deliver solutions with teams.
• Prepare design deliverables: datasheets, process control diagrams, and control panel details.
• Define scope, budget, and schedule with the team.
• Conduct detailed reviews and authenticate deliverables.
• Participate in project meetings with engineering, PM, operations, and clients.
• Lead instrumentation and controls projects in mining or heavy industry.
• Develop control narratives, P&IDs, loop diagrams, and I/O lists.
• Support commissioning, troubleshooting, and operations in industrial environments.
• Understand safety systems, hazardous area classifications, and applicable codes.
