Job summary

SLR Consulting (Americas) is seeking an experienced Instrumentation Engineer to stamp drawings and schematics, contribute to backfill plant design, and commission instrumentation and industrial control systems on our Sudbury team.

You will provide technical leadership and mentorship, lead I&C projects in mining/heavy industrial sectors, and ensure compliance with safety standards and codes.

Qualifications

• 10–15 years of combined consulting and mining industry experience.
• Experience leading instrumentation and controls projects.
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering; P.Eng eligible/licensed.

Responsibilities

• Stamp drawings and schematics for control systems.

Job description

We are SLR Consulting (Americas), a 1500+ team of advisory, environmental, engineering, and regulatory professionals across Canada, the United States, and LATAM. We deliver environmental and sustainability services to our clients through the integration of over 30 advisory, technical environmental, and engineering disciplines to help clients address some of their most complex challenges around sustainability. We are Making Sustainability Happen. As our new Instrumentation Engineer, you will be responsible for stamping drawings and schematics, contributing to backfill plant design, commissioning instrumentation and industrial control systems and providing technical leadership and mentorship to staff within the team. You’ll play a key role on our busy and growing Sudbury team.

Responsibilities

Provide E&I engineering technical support, working with teams to deliver solutions Prepare design deliverables, including datasheets, process control, diagrams, plot plans, control schematics, and engineering work packages, including installation details, control panel design, and termination details Define the scope of work, budget and schedule along with the team Conduct detailed reviews and authenticate deliverables Participate in project meetings between engineering, project management, operations, and clients Extensive experience leading and delivering instrumentation and controls engineering within mining or heavy industrial sectors Strong expertise in PLC, DCS, SCADA systems, and process automation platforms Proven ability to develop control narratives, P&IDs, loop diagrams, and I/O lists Experience with commissioning, troubleshooting, and operational support in industrial environments Strong understanding of safety systems, hazardous area classification, and applicable codes and standards Ability to lead complex projects and mentor junior staff while maintaining high technical excellence Working @ SLR

Qualifications/Education/Memberships

10-15 years of combined consulting and mining industry experience Experience and capabilities to thoroughly check I&C deliverables Relevant experience in commissioning instrumentation and industrial control systems Degree in Electrical, Instrumentation, or related Engineering discipline Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering Registered or eligible to register as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) Willingness and ability to travel as required

Final agreed upon compensation will be commensurate with individual education, professional designation, experience, internal parity, and location.
