Job summary

CARET in Toronto, Ontario, is seeking a senior Infrastructure Engineer to support and document IT systems, ensure stability, and optimize performance. You will manage architecture across servers, databases, APIs, load balancers, firewalls, networking, and SAN, and build virtualized environments with Hyper-V and VMware.

The role requires hands-on Windows Server administration, Active Directory (on-prem and Azure AD), and automation with PowerShell, Ansible or Terraform.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in systems engineering or infrastructure management.
  • Strong understanding of IT system components: servers, databases, APIs, networking, firewalls, load balancers, SAN.
  • Proficiency in Windows Server administration, including patching and security best practices.
  • Hands-on experience with virtualization technologies such as Hyper-V and/or VMware.
  • Solid experience with Active Directory and Azure Active Directory.
  • Experience using and managing infrastructure with Ansible or Terraform.
  • Scripting knowledge (PowerShell preferred) and ability to read/write scripts.
  • Working knowledge of system monitoring tools and incident response processes.

  • Monitor system health and performance, respond to incidents and perform triage effectively.
  • Use code management repositories (GitHub, Azure DevOps) for infrastructure configuration and deployment.
  • Contribute to SCRUM/Agile processes delivering infrastructure‑related tasks and improvements.
  • Lead projects from design to completion with mentorship for junior engineers.
  • Participate in on‑call rotation and provide timely resolution to critical infrastructure issues.

Pay range: $163,000 – $200,000. Actual base pay will depend on varying circumstances, including the position, location, individual qualifications, market finances, and other operations business needs.

Depending on the position, compensation may also include commission, bonuses, etc. Potential for bonuses is based on company performance and potential for merit increases is based on performance.
