Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Information Security Analyst to join our client’s security operations center in Kimberley. You will lead threat hunting, incident response, and the continuous improvement of security monitoring capabilities in a hybrid work setting.

The role requires 5+ years in information security, a bachelor's degree in cybersecurity or related field, and strong experience with SIEM, IDS/IPS, and threat intelligence platforms. Collaboration across teams is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or related field or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of progressive experience in information security analysis with a strong focus on SOC operations and incident response.
• Deep understanding of network protocols, operating systems, malware analysis, and attack methodologies.
• Proficiency in using SIEM, IDS/IPS, endpoint security solutions, and threat intelligence platforms.

Responsibilities

• Lead the investigation and response to complex security incidents, coordinating efforts across multiple teams.
• Conduct advanced threat hunting exercises to proactively identify indicators of compromise (IOCs) and adversary tactics.
• Analyze security logs, network traffic, and endpoint data to detect APTs and sophisticated attacks.
• Develop and tune security detection rules and alerts within SIEM and other security tools.
• Mentor junior analysts, providing guidance on threat analysis and incident response best practices.
• Contribute to the development and refinement of SOC playbooks and SOPs.
