Schedule: Monday to Friday, 7 hours a day, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm (subject to change).

Schedule Description: The duties of the Senior Information Security Analyst involve safeguarding TRU’s digital assets, designing and implementing security solutions, identifying vulnerabilities, ensuring compliance, and responding rapidly to security incidents.

Major Duties & Responsibilities:

• Represent TRU in cybersecurity initiatives and conferences such as BCNET, CANHEIT, and REN-ISAC.
• Investigate and advise on security practices, current landscape, and emerging threats; recommend security enhancements.
• Design, implement, and maintain security solutions to protect systems, networks, and data.
• Conduct vulnerability assessments and penetration tests.
• Coordinate incident response efforts, including identification, containment, eradication, and recovery.
• Ensure proper deployment and maintenance of security tools, working with contractors and auditors.
• Monitor systems for intrusions and take corrective actions.
• Conduct risk assessments and provide mitigation recommendations.
• Create and maintain security documentation.
• Lead or participate in security projects and liaise with team members and contractors.
• Engage in continuous professional development and stay updated on cybersecurity trends.
• Maintain ethics and integrity, aligning actions with policies and standards.
• Mentor junior team members to foster growth.

Reports to: Director, Information Security

Qualifications:

• 4-year University degree in Computer Science or related field.

Experience:

• At least 5 years in IT with 3+ years in a security role, including experience with security systems, cloud security, and penetration testing.

Skills, Knowledge, or Abilities:

• Understanding of authentication mechanisms, directory services, secure coding, threat modeling, cryptography, security architecture, and relevant standards.
• Proficiency in scripting languages like Python, PowerShell, Bash.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to explain complex topics.
• Ability to conduct vulnerability assessments and manage multiple tasks effectively.
• Ability to respond swiftly in high-pressure situations and after-hours availability.

Working Conditions:

• Sitting at a desk and computer for extended periods.
• Travel within campus locations in all weather conditions.
• Exposure to unclean conditions in client areas.
• Ability to lift weights exceeding 20 kg.

Market Supplement: Eligible for an annual supplement of $22,309.56, reviewed on February 9, 2027.

This is a fully remote position within British Columbia, subject to the Work from Home LOU.

The salary is determined by the CUPE Collective Agreement.

Pay Band: $34.52 - $38.35 (CUPE Grade 10)

Location: Kamloops or Williams Lake (remote work allowed)
