Job summary

DIRTT is seeking a Senior Industrial Designer in Calgary to mentor the product design team and drive the design vision from concept to implementation. You will work closely with product managers, engineers, and researchers to ensure world‑class, manufacturable solutions that align with DIRTT DNA.

You will lead design initiatives, present proposals to stakeholders, and apply Design Thinking and Agile methods to meet project milestones while advancing sustainability and manufacturability across

Qualifications

• Degree or professional equivalent in Industrial Design or related field.
• 10+ years in product design with launches.
• Strong portfolio of successful designs.
• Experience in product manufacturing is essential.
• Interior construction experience is a strong asset.
• Proficiency in 3D design tools and software listed above.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Mentor Designers, guiding team success and professional growth.
• Determine design strategy and direction for products.
• Identify opportunities for new or improved products.
• Collaborate with product managers to prioritise projects.
• Generate innovative design concepts aligned with user needs.
• Present proposals to stakeholders for feedback.
• Use Design Thinking and Agile methodologies to meet targets.
• Lead design charrettes and critiques for collaboration.
• Research user behavior and integrate findings into design.
• Create 3D models, CAD drawings, prototypes, and manufacturing info.
• Design for Manufacturing and for Assembly; simplify for manufacturability.
• Design for the Environment considering lifecycle impacts.
• Recommend materials and processes aligned with budget and pricing.
• Oversee prototypes and refine designs with engineering teams.
• Serve as SME for internal/external stakeholder teams.
