Job summary

WSP in Canada seeks a Senior I&C Engineer to lead instrumentation and controls design for mining and heavy industrial facilities, from concept through commissioning. You will shape control narratives, databases, and specifications while mentoring junior staff.

Based in Ontario with opportunities to influence projects across the country, you will work with multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe, reliable, and optimized facilities.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of electrical engineering design experience in heavy industrial facilities.
• Degree in Electrical, Instrumentation, or related Engineering discipline.
• Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or eligibility in Canada.
• Extensive experience delivering instrumentation and controls engineering in mining or heavy industrial sectors.
• Strong expertise in PLC, DCS, SCADA systems and process automation platforms.
• Ability to develop control narratives, P&IDs, loop diagrams, and I/O lists.
• Experience with commissioning, troubleshooting, and operational support in industrial environments.
• Strong understanding of safety systems, hazardous area classification, and applicable codes and standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and delivery of instrumentation and control systems for mining and heavy industrial facilities.
• Oversee control philosophy, system architecture, and functional specifications for complex process systems.
• Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and process engineering teams to ensure fully integrated project solutions.
• Drive innovation by applying advanced automation, digitalization, and control technologies.
• Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and quality reviews for project teams.
• Support project execution through all phases—from concept to commissioning and operational optimization.
• Engage with clients to understand operational needs and deliver tailored, high‑value engineering solutions.
• Ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and quality standards across all deliverables.
