Job summary

WSP is seeking a Senior I&C Engineer to lead instrumentation and control design for mining and heavy industrial facilities across Canada. Based in an Ontario office, you will influence project outcomes from concept through commissioning, collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver safe, reliable, and efficient processes.

You will apply advanced automation and digitalization, mentor junior staff, and drive quality reviews while guiding projects from concept to operational optimization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or equivalent in Electrical/Instrumentation engineering.
• P.Eng. designation or eligibility in Canada.
• At least 12 years of electrical design experience in heavy industrial facilities.
• Experience delivering instrumentation and controls engineering in mining or heavy industry.

• Oversee control philosophy, system architecture, and functional specifications for complex process systems.

Our teams deliver engineering and project execution excellence across the full project lifecycle—from conceptual studies and detailed design to commissioning, optimization, and beyond. Based in one of our Ontario offices - ideally in Northern Ontario, Greater Toronto Area, or Saskatoon as a Senior I&C Engineer, you will support as a senior subject matter expert in instrumentation and controls engineering for both new construction and brownfield mining, metals and other heavy industrial projects, influencing project outcomes from concept through completion. Your work will help our clients operate safely, reliably, and efficiently.

The Skills That Set You Apart

• At least 12+ years of electrical engineering design experience supporting heavy industrial facilities.
• Degree in Electrical, Instrumentation, or related Engineering discipline
• Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or eligibility in Canada
• Extensive experience delivering instrumentation and controls engineering within mining or heavy industrial sectors
• Strong expertise in PLC, DCS, SCADA systems, and process automation platforms
• Proven ability to develop control narratives, P&IDs, loop diagrams, and I/O lists
• Experience with commissioning, troubleshooting, and operational support in industrial environments
• Strong understanding of safety systems, hazardous area classification, and applicable codes and standards
• Ability to lead complex projects and mentor junior staff while maintaining high technical excellence

Compensation

AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $114,600 - $151,800

MB & ON: $104,500 - $143,900

NB, NL, NS, PEI & QC: $103,500 - $137,400
