Job summary

Tetra Tech is seeking a Senior Hydrotechnical Engineer for our Calgary, Alberta office to join the Power team. The incumbent will perform hydrotechnical analyses, hydraulic design, and regulatory support for projects ranging from $10M to $400M, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.

Requires a B.Sc./B.Eng. in Civil Engineering, PE/P.Eng registration, and 6+ years of consulting experience. Travel as needed and strong communication skills are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (B.Sc. or B.Eng.).
• PE or P.Eng registration in US or Canada is required.
• 6+ years in consulting engineering.
• Expertise in hydrotechnical engineering and hydraulic structures.
• Proficiency with Microsoft 365; advanced Excel is an asset.
• Experience in hydrological modeling, sediment transport, and hydraulic analysis.
• Strong communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
• Willingness to travel as needed.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to delivering hydrotechnical engineering solutions for clients.
• Perform hydrological assessments and low-flow/flood flow analyses.
• Develop hydraulic designs for rivers including weirs and dams.
• Prepare technical reports and regulatory submissions.
• Conduct energy and economic evaluations for hydropower projects.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on hydro projects from $10M–$400M.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
• Support ongoing professional development and safety practices.
