Job summary

ITASCA North America, Canada-based, is seeking a Senior Hydrogeologist to lead groundwater and mine-water projects across Canada and North America. You’ll supervise field investigations, develop conceptual models, and interpret data to support permitting, closure planning, and client deliverables.

The role requires an advanced degree and 10–20 years’ experience, strong writing and communication skills, and the ability to mentor staff.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree in hydrogeology or related field.
• Approximately 10–20 years of relevant professional experience.
• Registration with a recognized professional body, or ability to obtain.
• Experience with hydrogeologic field investigations, groundwater monitoring, aquifer or hydraulic testing, and data interpretation.
• Experience developing or interpreting conceptual hydrogeologic models.
• Experience with groundwater flow and contaminant transport modeling.
• Strong technical writing, verbal communication, and presentation skills.
• Ability to work independently on complex assignments and manage scope, schedule, and budget.
• Experience supervising or mentoring technical staff.
• Ability to support proposals and client development.

Responsibilities

• Lead or support hydrogeology, mine water, groundwater, and environmental projects.
• Plan, supervise, and interpret field investigations, including drilling, monitoring well installation, groundwater and surface water sampling, aquifer testing, and hydraulic testing.
• Interpret monitoring and testing data and develop conceptual hydrogeologic models.
• Develop, apply, or review groundwater flow and contaminant transport models.
• Analyze hydrogeologic, geochemical, and environmental data.
• Prepare technical reports, presentations, proposals, scopes of work, budgets, and work plans.
• Manage technical tasks or projects, including schedules, budgets, deliverables, and quality.
• Communicate technical findings to clients, regulators, project teams, and other stakeholders.
• Supervise and mentor junior and intermediate staff.
• Contribute to client relationships, proposal development, and the growth of ITASCA North America’s hydrogeology practice.

Education

Advanced degree in hydrogeology

Approximately 10–20 years of relevant professional experience

Professional registration by a recognized organization

Experience with hydrogeologic field investigations, groundwater monitoring, aquifer or hydraulic testing, and data interpretation

Experience developing or interpreting conceptual hydrogeologic models

Experience with groundwater flow and/or contaminant transport modeling

Strong technical writing, verbal communication, and presentation skills

Ability to work independently and manage scope, schedule, and budget

Experience supervising or mentoring technical staff
