Job summary

The Nature Conservancy is seeking an Associate Human Resource Director to lead a geographically dispersed HR team across Canada and the Western United States (WUSCAN). You will partner with senior leaders to shape strategic HR direction and deliver human-centered services that advance conservation goals.

Responsibilities include employee relations, compensation and talent practices, learning and development, payroll, and HR service delivery.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
  • 8+ years HR experience supporting large, multi-location organizations.
  • Experience navigating Canada and US employment laws including FLSA/ESA.
  • Experience leading HR initiatives across dispersed business units and time zones.
  • Strong partnership with senior leaders and cross-functional teams.
  • Proven ability to supervise and develop HR staff.

Responsibilities

  • Lead strategic HR partnerships with senior leaders to align HR priorities with business objectives.
  • Provide counsel on organizational design, workforce planning, and resource optimization.
  • Oversee employee relations, performance management, and complex terminations in Canada and the US.
  • Guide compensation, equity, and talent practices including pay equity analysis.
  • Develop and deliver HR programs, talent reviews, and succession planning.
  • Manage HR service delivery and learning initiatives across a dispersed team.
  • Supervise and coach a small HR team; promote psychological safety and accountability.
