Job summary

St. Michael's Hospital in Toronto is seeking an experienced maintenance professional to operate hospital systems per safety and patient comfort specifications.

The role covers physical plant equipment, rolling stock, and routine preventative maintenance across critical mechanical systems. The ideal candidate has a licensed mechanic background with hospital maintenance experience and strong customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Must be a licensed mechanic with the proper training and education.
• Minimum two years recent experience in the maintenance of mechanical equipment in a hospital environment.
• A minimum of 5 years' experience acting as a Shift Operator within a Hospital or institutional setting.
• Position requires the occasional short notice coverage of the Shift position in emergencies as well as scheduled shifts as per needs of the Hospital.
• Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Must be able to speak, read, write and understand English.
• Must have an excellent attendance record.

Responsibilities

• Operates the Hospital's systems to specified parameters for safety, comfort and client requirements on an as needed and scheduled basis
• Work on physical plant and rolling stock equipment as directed by Manager and Supervisors
• Performs routine preventative maintenance and inspection of all mechanical equipment, including air handling units, pumps, chillers, heat exchangers, and compressors
