Altis Technology is seeking a Building Systems Operator/Technologist to support a fast-paced healthcare environment in Toronto. You will maintain critical mechanical and building systems to ensure patient care and staff safety.

Working with an experienced facilities team, you will perform preventive maintenance, respond to operational needs, and help ensure systems meet required parameters. This role suits hands-on, problem-solving professionals who value collaboration.

Qualifications

• 2-3+ years as a Shift Operator in a hospital or institutional setting.
• Minimum 2 years maintaining mechanical equipment in hospital environments.
• Strong understanding of automated building systems and troubleshooting abilities.

Responsibilities

• Operate building systems according to safety, comfort and operational parameters.
• Perform routine preventive maintenance and inspections on AHUs, pumps, chillers, heat exchangers, compressors and other mechanical equipment.
• Work on physical plant and rolling stock equipment as directed by management.
• Identify operational issues, troubleshoot and prioritize work requests in a fast-paced environment.
• Provide scheduled and short-notice shift coverage, including 12-hour rotating day, night and weekend shifts.

Your Responsibilities

• Youll operate building systems according to established parameters for safety, comfort and operational requirements.
• Youll perform routine preventative maintenance and inspections on air handling units, pumps, chillers, heat exchangers, compressors and other mechanical equipment.
• Youll work on physical plant and rolling stock equipment as directed by management and supervisors.
• Youll identify operational issues, troubleshoot problems and prioritize work requests in a fast-paced environment.
• Youll provide scheduled and short-notice shift coverage when required, including 12-hour rotating day, night and weekend shifts.

Skills and Qualifications

• 2-3+ years of experience acting as a Shift Operator within a hospital or institutional setting
• Minimum 2 years of recent experience maintaining mechanical equipment in a hospital environment
• BES License is needed
• 4th Class Stationary Engineer designation or Building Systems Technologist background preferred
• Strong understanding of automated building systems and proven problem-solving abilities
• Strong interpersonal, communication and customer service skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively, perform the physical requirements of the role and maintain reliable attendance
