Job summary

AtkinsRéalis Canada Inc. seeks a Principal Geotechnical Engineer (Mine Tailings) to lead tailings storage facility design and related analyses across Canada. You will mentor junior staff and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver technical solutions from concept through construction.

The role requires a P.Eng., 15+ years in mining/geotechnical projects, and strong leadership and communication skills. Hybrid work options and BC tax-advantaged pay apply.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil or Geological Engineering; postgraduate degree in Geotechnical Engineering preferred.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario and/or other Canadian provinces.
• 15+ years of experience leading multidisciplinary teams on mining and metals projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead multidisciplinary project teams in tailings storage facility design, including dynamic analyses (FLAC) and liquefaction assessments.
• Collaborate in development and optimization of tailings containment designs.
• Prepare and review technical studies, geotechnical investigations, drawings and specifications for tailings sites.
• Conduct and contribute to technical reviews, dam safety reviews, and inspections of tailings facilities.
• Participate in project meetings, providing geotechnical expertise and guidance.
• Mentor and develop junior and intermediate engineers.
• Contribute to preparation of technical proposals and business development.
