Job summary

AtkinsRéalis in Canada seeks a Principal Geotechnical Engineer (Mine Tailings) to lead multidisciplinary teams in tailings storage design from concept to construction. You will perform advanced analyses and reviews, mentor engineers, and contribute to studies and business development.

The role demands a geotechnical leader with extensive experience in mining projects and a P.Eng. license; hybrid work options and strong collaboration across disciplines are offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil or Geological Engineering; postgraduate in Geotechnical Engineering strongly preferred.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario and/or other Canadian provinces.
• 15+ years of relevant experience leading multidisciplinary teams in mining/metals projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead multidisciplinary project teams in tailings storage facilities design, including advanced analyses (dynamic, FLAC, liquefaction).
• Develop and optimize tailings containment designs.
• Prepare and review technical studies, geotechnical investigations, drawings and specifications for tailings sites.
• Conduct technical reviews, dam safety assessments, and inspections of tailings facilities.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to business development and proposals.
