Job summary

Tetra Tech is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join our Western Canada Engineering team in Terrace, BC. The role includes technical leadership, project management, and mentoring junior staff. Relocation support is available for qualified candidates.

Based in Terrace with relocation assistance and a welcoming stance toward applicants from outside the area. The position offers a competitive salary with a hybrid work culture and opportunities to work on a range of geotechnical projects.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in Geotechnical, Geological or Civil Engineering (required).
• Graduate degree in Geotechnical Engineering is an asset.
• 10+ years preferred for stronger seniority.
• Consulting experience and ability to manage client relationships and multi-discipline project teams.
• Demonstrated experience planning geotechnical investigations and writing technical reports.

Responsibilities

• Lead geotechnical projects and mentor EITs.
• Manage projects from scoping to construction support, ensuring on-time delivery.
• Plan and supervise site investigations (drilling, CPT, sampling, instrumentation).
• Evaluate subsurface conditions and design foundations and earthworks.
• Perform slope stability and remediation design assessments.
• Contribute to dam safety reviews and remediation designs.
• Prepare technical reports, proposals, estimates, and schedules.
• Provide senior technical review and mentor junior staff.
• Maintain client communication and regulatory coordination.
