What you would engage in:
Our focus is on applying critical thinking to mine waste and water management. If you join us, you will be part of our Mining Environmental Group in Toronto or Sudbury. The Senior Geotechnical Engineer role offers flexible hybrid work options and includes:
- Designing solutions for large dam projects under challenging conditions
- Engaging with clients, colleagues, and suppliers on environmentally focused field programs and designs
- Managing projects, including developing, reviewing, and approving technical specifications, drawings, reports, and tender packages for tailings dams, mine waste, containment facilities, and infrastructure
- Mentoring staff in TSF design methodologies
- Building client rapport from feasibility to mine closure
- Attending conferences and training to expand knowledge
- Contributing to industry knowledge and best practices
- Becoming an ambassador and potentially an owner of KCB
What we require:
We value your experience and support your growth. The role requires:
- A degree in civil or geological engineering with a record of ongoing development
- At least ten years of civil design experience, with five related to mine waste projects
- Background in geotechnical design focusing on dams, embankments, and slopes
- Experience in slope stability, seepage analysis, dam design, earthworks, and construction
- Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
- Experience in safety-focused environments with incident reporting
- Eligibility to register as a professional engineer in Ontario
Preferred additional skills include:
- Experience in seismic analysis of dams and related software
- Creative problem-solving and presentation skills
- Mentoring abilities
- Client relationship building
