Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join our Edmonton team. You will work with a local team of professionals on geotechnical projects from field exploration through reporting and design.

This role emphasizes leading projects, mentoring junior staff, client engagement, and applying innovative tools to deliver high-quality solutions within a global, multisector firm.

Qualifications

• Minimum postgraduate degree in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering from a recognized university.
• Twenty years of geotechnical consulting experience.
• Valid Canadian driver’s licence with access to a vehicle.
• Ability to live and work in Canada.
• Residing in Edmonton, Alberta, or willing to relocate.

Responsibilities

• Lead and deliver geotechnical projects from proposal through completion, including planning, analysis, reporting, and client communication.
• Provide technical leadership and mentor junior staff to ensure high-quality deliverables.
• Manage small project teams and coordinate activities across the project lifecycle.
• Engage with clients to understand needs and tailor solutions.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement and contribute to technical capabilities.

We are seeking a motivated Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join our Edmonton team and help deliver impactful projects in our community.

The successful candidate will work closely with a local team of 30 geotechnical professionals based out of Edmonton, supported by a wider, regional team of over 200 geotechnical professionals.

Your Opportunity

Education and Experience

• Minimum of a post graduate degree in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering from a recognized university.

• Minimum of 20 years’ experience in geotechnical consulting.

• Valid Canadian driver’s licence with access to a vehicle.

• Residing in Edmonton, Alberta, or willing to relocate.

The successful candidate will be required to primarily work in a typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
