Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer to lead and deliver small to mid-sized projects from proposal through completion, coordinating planning, analysis, reporting and client communication.

You will mentor junior staff, manage small project teams, and contribute to continuous improvement while collaborating within a global, multidisciplinary team and leveraging innovative tools.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Geotechnical or Geological or Mining Engineering, or Geology.
  • 5–10 years of experience in geotechnical engineering or related services.
  • Registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with APEGA or eligible for registration transfer from another province.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and deliver projects independently from proposal through completion (planning, analysis, reporting, client communication).
  • Technical leadership: apply expertise to complex analyses and mentor junior staff.
  • Lead and coordinate small project teams to foster collaboration and professional growth.
  • Engage with clients to understand needs and deliver tailored geotechnical solutions.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and contribute to technical capability advancement.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Geotechnical or Geological or Mining Engineering, or Geology.

  • 5–10 years of experience in geotechnical engineering or related services.

  • Registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with APEGA or eligible for registration transfer from another province.

  • Valid Canadian driver’s license with access to a vehicle.

  • Ability to live and work in Canada.

  • Residing in Edmonton Alberta, or willing to relocate.

Pay Transparency

In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
