Job summary

Sienna Senior Living is seeking a Senior General Manager to lead the retirement home operations in Canada. You will oversee a senior management team, drive occupancy and financial performance, and champion a culture of caring and accountability.

The role reports to regional leaders and requires strong change leadership, cross-functional collaboration, and a deep commitment to residents and families. This is a full-time, on-site leadership position at Aspira Heatherwood Retirement Living.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in Business Administration, Hotel Management, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of progressive leadership experience in retirement living, hospitality or a similar sector.
  • Proven track record of team management, budget management and operational excellence.
  • Experience in sales and marketing to drive occupancy.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Legal eligibility to work in Canada or valid work/study permit.
  • Willingness to pass a Vulnerable Sector Check and Criminal Records Check.

Responsibilities

  • Build a high performing management team.
  • Lead an interdisciplinary team of Managers, Sales Consultants and Front Line employees.
  • Plan, coordinate, direct and monitor the Residence's operational activities.
  • Develop short and long term operational plans for efficient operation with clear delegation.
  • Provide support to achieve occupancy, Net Operating Income and Operating Margin.
  • Respond to resident and family concerns and implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure site level compliance with provincial regulations.
  • Collaborate to create an optimal working environment and resident experience.
  • Partner to execute outreach strategies to maintain occupancy.
  • Foster community partnerships and smooth onboarding of new General Managers.
  • Provide interim leadership at Aspira locations as needed.
  • Lead regional initiatives for the region.

What you will be doing:

You will be a welcomed member of the Aspira Management team and impact in the following ways:

  • Build a high performing, strong and effective management team
  • Lead an interdisciplinary team of Managers, Sales Consultants and Front Line employees
  • Plan, coordinate, direct and monitor the effectiveness of the overall operational activities of the Residence
  • Develop short and long term operational plans for the efficient operation, including proper delegation and communication of lines of authority
  • Provide support and direction to the team to achieve targeted occupancy, Net Operating Income and Operating Margin
  • Respond promptly to resident and family member concerns, including mediating a satisfactory response and implementing an action plan to avoid reoccurrence of similar issues
  • Ensure site level compliance with all applicable provincial regulations
  • Collaborate with internal resources to ensure the optimum working environment so that team members, who value their work, are engaged and provide the best resident experience
  • Partner with Director of Wellness and Sales Advisor to create and execute strong outreach strategy to increase/maintain occupancy
  • Foster positive community partnerships with health and service providers, business leaders, civic officials and other community agencies to promote the home as an integral part of the community
  • Facilitate the integration process for new General Managers to ensure a smooth and efficient onboarding experience
  • Provide interim leadership and support, as needed, at other Aspira locations ensuring continuity of operations and leadership
  • Spearhead and contribute to key regional initiatives assigned for the region
What you need to know:
  • You have a bachelor degree in Business Administration, Hotel Management, or a related field, equipping you with a solid foundation in management principles and practices relevant to our organization
  • With 3-5 years of progressive leadership experience in retirement living, hospitality or a similar sector, you have honed your management skills and are adept at leading teams in compassion and efficiency
  • You have a proven track record of effective team management, budget management and operational excellence. Your experience demonstrates your ability to manage resources wisely and lead operations successfully
  • You possess experience in sales and marketing, crucial for driving occupancy and engaging the community. Your skills in this area will help promote our services and enhance our reputation and reach
  • Your excellent verbal and written communication skills stand out. You are capable of building and maintain strong relationships with seniors, their families, team members and external stakeholders
  • You must be legally eligible to work in Canada or have a valid work/study permit
  • You must successfully pass a Vulnerable Sector Check and Criminal Records Check
