Job summary

DNV Energy Systems North America is seeking a Gas Generation Power Senior Engineer SME with extensive experience in conventional and flexible thermal generation to support advisory services across Mergers & Acquisitions, Independent Engineering, and Owner’s Engineering.

This senior role requires practical operation and design knowledge of power plants and exposes the candidate to project development, financing, and asset optimization across North America.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering (mechanical, electrical, or related)
• Minimum of five years in thermal power generation
• Experience with EPC and O&M contracts and project lifecycle
• Ability to translate complex issues for technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Strong written and verbal English communication; travel up to 15%

Responsibilities

• Serve as the technical lead for gas turbines, steam turbines, boiler systems, engines, and new thermal technologies.
• Lead technical evaluations of assets, identifying risks, value drivers, and lifecycle considerations.
• Assess plant condition using operating history, outages, heat rate trends, and maintenance practices.
• Evaluate reliability, degradation mechanisms, and maintenance strategies.
• Support technical due diligence, independent engineering, and owner’s engineering scopes, including review of designs, EPC/O&M contracts, validation of data in financial models, and site visits.
