Job summary

Skeleton Key, a studio under Wizards of the Coast, is seeking a senior gameplay designer to join the Montréal team. You will shape battles, craft engaging enemy encounters, and develop AI using Unreal Engine and visual scripting.

You will collaborate across design, animation, programming, and level design to ensure pacing and progression remain thrilling. The role requires deep experience in combat design for action and RPG games, a strong grip on balancing and readability of combat signals, and

Qualifications

• Senior level experience in combat design for action or action RPG games.
• Experience creating enemies, abilities, AI behaviors, and battles.
• Strong Unreal Engine skills and visual scripting know-how.
• Deep understanding of rhythm, balancing, and readability of combat signals to players.

Responsibilities

• Design, integrate, and fine-tune enemies, abilities, and combat behaviors.
• Create NPC AI using Unreal Engine and visual scripting.
• Design engaging encounters that balance enemies and challenges with pacing and progression.
• Own gameplay features from prototyping to integration and polish.
• Balance combat difficulty, enemy roles, and player feedback signals.
• Collaborate with design, animation, programming, and level design teams.
• Provide feedback and mentorship to other gameplay designers.
