You will lead QA activities, gather requirements, and support the product lifecycle from implementation to post-launch enhancements within an energy market context.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of QA, business analysis or related technical experience.
• Strong system architecture, APIs and data integration knowledge.
• Proficient in data analysis with SQL/Excel and scripting (JavaScript, Python).
• Experience with Agile and Waterfall delivery models and backlog management.
• Nice-to-haves: energy market sector experience and post-implementation product team work.

Responsibilities

• Quality Assurance leadership: create and run test plans, cases, and UAT/SIT; drive root cause analysis.
• Gather and map business requirements; translate to functional specs and process diagrams.
• Manage epics, user stories, and backlogs in Azure DevOps; support SCRUM ceremonies.

Senior Functional Analyst - Quality Assurance

• Pay Rate: $67.75/hour, depending on experience

Raise is currently hiring a Senior Functional Analyst - Quality Assurance on behalf of our client. They’re expanding their team to meet growing needs, making this a unique opportunity to work with an industry leader. Our client is responsible for the safe and reliable operation of the Alberta Interconnected Electric System.

Note: The primary pay rate is based on T4 classification; however, we will also consider applications from candidates interested in an INC classification, where applicable.

Description

Our Client is transforming Alberta's electricity market through the multi-year Restructured Energy Market (REM) program. They are seeking a Senior Functional Analyst - QA to play a pivotal role in implementing and operationalizing the Enspire application suite (including market settlement, commercial model management, offer control, outage submission, and price validation).

This role bridges business needs and technical delivery, transitioning from implementation-phase quality assurance and requirements gathering to long-term product lifecycle support.

Responsibilities

• Quality Assurance & Testing Leadership: Develop, execute, and oversee comprehensive test plans, test cases, and User Acceptance Testing (UAT/SIT), driving root-cause analysis during implementation.


• Requirements & Process Mapping: Lead stakeholder workshops to gather and validate business requirements, translate them into functional specifications, and design end-to-end \"as-is\" and \"to-be\" process diagrams.


• Agile Product Delivery: Manage epics, user stories, and backlogs within Azure DevOps, actively supporting SCRUM ceremonies and cross-functional sprints.


• Vendor & Design Collaboration: Validate vendor design documents to ensure completeness and alignment with core business needs.


• Operations & Cutover Support: Contribute to operational readiness, change management, training activities, and post-implementation product enhancements.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional experience in QA, business analysis, or a related technical environment.


• Technical Acumen: Strong background in system architecture, APIs, data integrations, cloud web-based


• Data & Scripting Proficiency: Skilled in data analysis (SQL, Excel, visualization tools) with practical experience in JavaScript and Python.


• Methodology Mastery: Proven experience working in both Agile and Waterfall delivery models, with deep familiarity in product backlog management and sprint ceremonies.


• Nice-to-Haves


• Direct experience within the electrical utility or energy market sector.


• Track record of leading end-to-end system implementations and managing complex business lines.


• Experience operating on a post-implementation Product Team, mentoring peers, and driving continuous improvement.


• Education and Certifications


• Degree or Diploma in Business Administration, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
