Job summary

BC Hydro is seeking a Professional Forester to support forestry and vegetation management across projects in British Columbia. The role involves multidisciplinary coordination, data interpretation, and development of cost estimates to guide timber harvesting, vegetation clearing and access planning in various provincial projects.

The ideal candidate has a valid BC Driver’s Licence and extensive forestry experience, with strong knowledge of environmental and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• RPF in good standing; eligible for BC RPF.
• Minimum eight years of industrial forestry experience; or five years in multi-disciplinary projects.
• Knowledge of BC forestry regs, environmental and water resources, and utilities.
• Must hold a valid BC Driver’s Licence.

Responsibilities

• Participate in multidisciplinary environment for forestry requirements of vegetation management projects.
• Analyze and evaluate studies and data to provide forestry opinions and support for planning and implementation.
• Develop detailed cost estimates for forestry and vegetation management activities.
• Fulfill the role of forestry Subject Matter Expert for BC Hydro and its clients.
• Assist with development of contract scope, specifications and related documents.
• Manage forestry engineering and layout contracts, including road layout and access planning.
• Ensure contract deliverables meet specifications with QA checks.
• Coordinate with Operations, Lines, Properties, Archaeology, Environment, and other teams.
