Job summary

Government of Nunavut seeks a Fire Specialist Training Officer to develop and deliver comprehensive fire training programs across municipal, industrial, commercial, institutional sectors and mining sites. The role includes coordinating safety education, conducting inspections and investigations, and liaising with government and community partners to promote prevention.

The Officer will travel to remote locations, promote standardized training, and work with a high level of independence while

Qualifications

Five (5) years' experience in the fire service.
NFPA/IFSAC certifications or equivalent (see list in ad).
A Class 3 driver's license with Air Brake Certification or equivalent.
Experience with or assets in IFSAC NFPA certifications such as NFPA 1001/1031/1033/1035/1041.
Fluency in two or more of Nunavut's official languages is an asset.

Responsibilities

Develop, coordinate and implement public and professional fire training programs.
Deliver training to schools, hospitals, and mining industry safety staff including public education.
Conduct fire prevention inspections and investigate fires as directed.
Liaise with Nunavut Government officials and community partners to promote fire prevention.
Travel to remote locations and work in challenging conditions as required.
