We are currently seeking a Senior Financial Services Risk Data Analyst to join our Payment Operations team in Toronto, Vancouver, or Calgary.

What your team does :

Launched in late 2021, Clio Payments is one of the fastest-growing legal payments solutions worldwide, processing billions of dollars annually. The Payment Operations team, led by the Director of Payment Operations, is responsible for scaling Clio Payments across North America and internationally. The team manages the entire customer journey, from onboarding to dispute resolution, fraud, and credit monitoring.

Payment Operations is crucial to Clio, focusing on strategic, operational, and data-driven improvements to drive results.

Who you are :

Reporting to the Director of Payment Operations, you are a Senior Risk Management and Data Analyst with experience in Fintech Payments, Merchant, and Portfolio Risk Management. You will develop and execute data insights initiatives related to financial services and risk management, with familiarity in card payments, ACH, wires, and fraud prevention tools. Your role is vital in shaping risk strategies, influencing product and business decisions, and supporting cross-functional initiatives while managing merchant and transaction risk processes.

What you'll do :

• Develop and implement analytics and predictive models to assess product and portfolio risk, optimize processes, identify growth opportunities, and improve performance.
• Measure and report on Operational and Risk Management KPIs, developing frameworks for understanding trends and causation.
• Design and maintain calculators and predictive models for various financial solutions, ensuring compliance with network interchange, costs, and regulations.
• Create frameworks and tools to prevent fraud and financial crime, maintaining a seamless customer experience.
• Identify operational and risk gaps, analyzing potential solutions and integration into our platform.
• Collaborate with teams and vendors to deliver insights, align strategies, and ensure data integrity.
• Support operational teams in merchant and transaction monitoring, advising on best practices.
• Respond to suspected fraud events, working with security and payments teams.
• Define risk tolerance levels using data insights for products at various stages.
• Create dashboards and reports on fraud exposure and mitigation effectiveness.
• Develop educational materials on emerging fraud techniques.
• Act as a liaison with third-party fintech service providers for fraud mitigation solutions.

What you may have :

• At least 3-5 years in Financial Services, Payments, or Fintech, with solid understanding of card networks, risk profiles, ACH, wires, and emerging tech like Buy Now Pay Later.
• At least 2 years in Fraud and Risk Prevention within financial services.
• At least 2 years in data analytics/science in a SaaS environment.
• Strong SQL, data mining, and dashboard skills.
• Experience working with global markets outside North America.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and collaboration skills.

Bonus points if you have :

• Experience at a digital bank or with a fraud prevention vendor.
• Knowledge of compliance, fraud, risk management, and AI solutions in fintech.
