Senior Financial Planner – Raymond James Ltd.

Role Overview

The Senior Financial Planner is an integral member of our Total Wealth Solutions team, dedicated to delivering service excellence in support of Raymond James advisory teams and their clients. The role involves preparing and delivering high‑quality modular and comprehensive planning deliverables, managing client planning engagements, collaborating with internal partners, building strategic relationships with advisors, delivering presentations and webinars, and maintaining up‑to‑date knowledge across all areas of financial planning.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare and deliver high‑quality modular and comprehensive planning deliverables for RJL clients.
  • Manage each client planning engagement from initial discovery meeting, gathering and entering client data, working with the client’s other professional advisors, interpreting planning information, and delivering client planning deliverables.
  • Collaborate with all members of the Total Wealth Solutions team to deliver best‑in‑class financial planning deliverables and support to advisors, clients, internal partners, and stakeholders.
  • Build strategic relationships with advisors to enhance their knowledge and willingness to engage in Financial Planning activities for the benefit of their HNW clients.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations and webinars to enhance the knowledge and understanding of the Financial Planning offering to our advisors and their clients.
  • Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge on topics and subjects in all areas of Financial Planning.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Extensive knowledge of Canadian financial planning and its key concepts.
  • U.S. financial planning background is an asset.
  • Proficiency in French is an asset.
  • Extensive knowledge of all Canadian investment solution structures and accounts, and their respective income tax and succession law considerations.
  • Exceptional etiquette and client‑service skills, including experience in face‑to‑face, videoconferencing, and telephone scenarios.
  • Strong, confident presentation skills.
  • Sound judgment and collaboration with RJL’s Total Wealth Solutions complimentary departments (Tax Consulting, Tax Preparation, Insurance Solutions, Corporate Trustee, and Philanthropy).
  • Excellent time‑management, organizational, multi‑tasking, and prioritizing skills.
  • Ability to juggle multiple, competing deadlines in a high‑volume, demanding environment while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Oversee the training and development of junior team members.
  • Exercise tact and utmost discretion in handling client private, confidential information and collaborating with other professional advisors (tax and legal).
Education and Experience
  • College diploma or university degree with a focus on business and/or finance.
  • Five or more years of practical, client‑facing financial planning experience, including Canadian operating, professional and holding corporations, private trusts, and cross‑border considerations.
  • Experience preparing and delivering financial plans for HNW Canadian families in the Wealth Management industry.
  • Experience with Conquest Planning or Naviplan software in the last two years.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with willingness to hone existing skills and learn new applications.
Licenses & Certifications
  • Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) designation is required (Pl. Fin for Quebec applicants).
  • Life License Qualification Program (LLQP) and/or Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU®) designation is an asset.
  • Trust and Estate Practitioner (TEP) designation is an asset.
Travel Requirements

Occasional travel may be required.
