Job summary

WestGen, a farmer-owned organization serving dairy and beef producers across Western Canada, is seeking a Financial Controller for an on-site role in Abbotsford, BC. You will oversee accounting processes, prepare financial statements, and provide strategic insights to support long-term planning.

You will lead month-end close, budgeting, and compliance, manage intercompany activity, and collaborate with leadership to optimize financial systems and controls, including ERP ownership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting; CPA required.
• 5-10+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience.
• Experience with multi-entity organizations; cross-border exposure is an asset.
• Strong understanding of financial reporting, controls, and compliance.
• Advanced Excel and ERP/system experience.
• High attention to detail with organizational discipline.

Responsibilities

• Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close across entities.
• Prepare and consolidate financial statements.
• Ensure timeliness and accuracy of financial reporting.
• Oversee GL, AP, AR and intercompany reconciliations.
• Lead budgeting and forecasting for all units.
• Coordinate audits and tax filings across Canada and the US.
