Job summary

Ag-Quest / Rourke Farms / Dana M Farms seek a Financial Controller to oversee three companies and subsidiaries from our Minto head office. This full-time, in-person role reports to the executive teams and drives accurate financial reporting, controls, and compliance.

You will manage payables/receivables, payroll, GST, corporate tax, and regulatory filings, collaborate with the accounting clerk, and support growth through insightful financial analysis and robust internal controls.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, or related field required.
• At least five years of quantifiable job-related experience including accounts payable/receivable, reconciliations, auditing, payroll processing.
• Must have Canadian Citizenship or Permanent Residency status.
• Experience with QuickBooks accounting software and payroll administration.

Responsibilities

• Ensure accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and regulatory compliance.
• Provide strategic financial insights to support growth, project profitability, and efficiency across three companies and subsidiaries.
• Oversee payables, receivables, semi-monthly payroll, tax preparation and government remittances; implement policies and controls.
• Manage GST, payroll, corporate tax, and government filings including SR&ED claims; monitor financial risks.
• Collaborate with the Executive Teams and Accounting Clerk(s) to support financial portfolios and employee benefits management.
• Maintain strong relationship with banking partners and external accountants; assist with annual general meetings and travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor?s degree in accounting, business, or related field required
• At least five years of quantifiable job-related experience including experience with accounts payable and receivable, account and bank reconciliations, auditing, payroll processing and financial services
• Must have Canadian Citizenship or Permanent Residency status
• Experience with QuickBooks business management software
• Experience with payroll administration
• Thorough knowledge in financial and accounting functions of an organization
• Must have a Valid Class 5 Driver?s license as some travel to the bank and accountant is required

Financial Controller Job Description

This role ensures accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, regulatory compliance, and provides strategic financial insights to support business growth, project profitability, and operational efficiency. The Controller plays a key leadership role in aligning financial management with three companies (and their subsidiaries) operations. The Controller reports directly to the Executive teams at Ag-Quest and Rourke Farms. The Controller will oversee and collaborate with the Accounting Clerk(s) to complete payables, receivables, semi-monthly payroll, tax preparation and government remittances. The Controller will implement internal controls and financial policies and ensure compliance with tax regulations (GST, payroll, corporate tax). They will manage government reporting and filings including SRED claims. The Controller will be directly responsible for the companies? financial portfolios including bank accounts, credit cards, etc. The Controller will collaborate with the Executive Assistant on managing the employee benefit plan, RRSP & DPSP program as well as worker?s compensation and EI. They will monitor and confirm financial condition by conducting internal audits and providing information to the accountant and Executive Teams and will ensure that financial risks are minimized. They will also work collaboratively with other team members to support organizational goals and perform other office duties as reasonably assigned.

There will be onsite training and mentoring in this role by the current Chief Financial Officer. This position is exclusively an in-person position at the Minto Office with no opportunity for working from home. Some travel will be required for banking purposes and for meetings with the accountant. Travel out of province for annual general meetings may also be required.
