Job summary

The Waterloo Catholic District School Board is seeking a Budgeting Analyst to manage salary and benefits budgeting, monitor variances, and support forecasting and reporting. The role requires a business-related degree, CPA or progress towards, and 3+ years in a Canadian public sector setting.

Proficiency in Advanced Excel and BC/Navision plus ISYS is expected; on-site work is required and the position is Level 6 with a strong compensation package.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in a business-related field.
• Professional accounting designation or actively pursuing a designation.
• 3+ years experience in a similar role with a Canadian institution.
• Advanced Excel and analytical skills with the ability to manage deadlines.
• Excellent written and oral communication.
• School board or other public sector experience.
• Working knowledge of the Ministry of Education funding.
• Working knowledge of payroll and collective agreements.
• Knowledge of MS Business Central (Navision) and ISYS software applications.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the complex salary and benefits budget for the board.
• Monitor monthly budget performance and variances.
• Forecast quarterly salary and benefits; produce KPI reports.
• Collaborate with budget holders on financial processes.
• Analyze historical trends and industry practices for budgeting.
• Coordinate annual budget reporting and year-end audit prep.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
