Job summary

Stan, the largest provider of AI solutions for HOA and Condo Property Managers, seeks a hands-on finance professional to help build and scale the Finance function. Reporting to the Head of Finance, you’ll own core finance operations from day one, spanning accounting ops, FP&A, systems, automation and strategic analysis.

• 3–5 years of progressive finance experience with CPA designation or pursuing one.
• Hands-on month-end close, financial analysis, and reconciliations.

Responsibilities

• Month-End Close: prepare journal entries, reconciliations, and flux analysis for monthly close.
• Technical Accounting: revenue recognition, consolidated reporting, external audit ownership.
• Billing & Collections: manage billing, invoicing, AR, collections, and payments controls.
• Automation & Intelligent Workflows: evaluate and roll out finance systems; automate recurring work.
• Compliance: support sales tax, compliance, SRED and other finance requirements.
• Planning & Forecasting: assist with annual plan, forecast, and cash flow reporting.
• Business Partnering: budget vs actual and KPI reporting with department heads.
• Strategic Finance: identify cost-saving opportunities and evaluate investments.

The Role

We're looking for a hands-on finance professional to help build and scale our Finance function — a rare chance to shape how Finance works at Stan from the ground up, not just execute an existing playbook. Reporting directly to the Head of Finance, you'll get a front-row seat to how a fast-growing AI startup runs, with direct mentorship and a lot of room to grow. You'll have real ownership over core parts of our finance operations from day one, and your scope will expand as you and the company grow.

This is a broad, high-visibility role for someone who enjoys both getting into the details and improving how things work. You'll work across accounting operations, FP&A, systems, automation and strategic analysis, with real ownership from day one.

Tasks

• Month-End Close: Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and flux analysis as part of the monthly close, and help produce accurate, timely reporting for our board and investors.
• Technical Accounting: Revenue recognition, consolidated reporting, and external audit ownership, with real accounting-policy judgment.
• Billing & Collections: Own billing, invoicing, AR/collections, and support AP and payments, building stronger controls as you go.
• Automation & Intelligent Workflows: Help evaluate and roll out our finance systems (billing, sales tax, spend management, reporting), and bring a curious, AI-forward mindset to automating recurring work and surfacing insights faster.
• Compliance: Support sales tax, compliance, SRED process and other recurring finance requirements.
• Planning & Forecasting: Support the annual operating plan, forecasting, and cash-flow/runway reporting.
• Business Partnering: Build and maintain budget-vs-actual and recurring KPI/management reporting, work directly with department leaders.
• Strategic Finance: Identify cost‑saving opportunities and support business case evaluation for major investments and capital-allocation decisions.

Requirements

Must-Have

• Relevant Experience: 3–5 years of progressive finance experience, with a CPA designation or actively pursuing one.
• Technical Foundation: Hands-on experience with month-end close, financial analysis and reconciliations
• Comfortable with budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis
• Startup Grit: Comfortable operating in a fast-moving environment where processes may still need to be built. You take an outcome and drive it through rather than waiting for instructions.
• Communication: You can work directly with non-finance stakeholders and explain the “why” behind the numbers.

Nice-to-Have

• Systems Orientation: Genuine interest in improving processes through technology, automation and AI, and experimenting with new tools to translate them into practical workflow improvements.
• Prior experience at a SaaS or technology company with an understanding of SaaS metrics
• Public Accounting Background: Experience at a Big 4 or public accounting firm.
