Job summary

Staples Canada is seeking a finance professional to provide insightful business and financial information for partnership programs. You will work with management to develop reconciliations, resolve variances, and report on program profitability.

Qualifications

• CPA designation is required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare month-end journal entries.
• Review reconciliations and journal entries prepared by analysts.
• Investigate and liaise with stakeholders to resolve unreconciled differences.
• Collaborate with IT and Business Operations on system implementations and process improvements.
• Develop reporting on KPIs, EBITDA and program profitability.
• Foster continuous improvement within the finance team.
• Handle other projects and ad hoc requests.

This involves working with the Manager and Director to develop a reconciliation process, reconciling datasets, resolving variances with the partners, and reporting on program profitability.

The primary responsibility of this role is to provide insightful business and financial information to internal business partners on various partnership programs. This involves working with the Manager and Director to develop a reconciliation process, reconciling datasets, resolving variances with the partners, and reporting on program profitability.

Specifically, You Will

• Prepare reconciliations for commissions, receivables and payables based on the cadence of available reporting from partner and/or sub-system. Ensuring transactions are appropriately reconciled and captured in the general ledger.
• Prepare month-end journal entries.
• Review reconciliations and month-end journal entries prepared by analysts as required.
• Investigate and liaise with internal and external stakeholders to validate and resolve unreconciled differences.
• Collaborate with IT and Business Operations teams to assist with system implementation, process improvement and issue resolution.
• Work closely with Business Operations and other finance teams as a trusted business partner to develop reporting on KPIs, EBITDA and profitability measures for the program.
• Cultivate a continuous improvement mindset within the finance team.
• Other projects and ad hoc requests as required.

• University degree or equivalent in accounting, business, finance or a related field.
• CPA designation required.
• Resourceful and strong problem solving and analytical skills.

• Minimum 3 years of progressive accounting or finance experience.
• Experience with revenue assurance, or revenue and profitability analytics.
• Experience in the telecom or software industries is an asset.
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
• ERP Oracle experience is an asset.
• Intermediate SQL knowledge.
