Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or Accounting or equivalent.
  • CPA certification required or pursuing CPA.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to multitask in a dynamic environment.
  • Proficient Excel with advanced data analysis capabilities; knowledge of large-scale ERP/reporting systems preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support annual budgeting, monthly forecasting, and variance analysis with explanations.
  • Prepare and deliver management reporting packages with KPIs and commentary.
  • Collaborate with Finance Business Partners and operations to generate insights for decision-making.

Job DescriptionReporting to the Finance Manager, the Senior Financial Analyst will be responsible for processing and analyzing of financial data, driving financial performance and ensure financial compliance with government funding regulations.The successful candidate will bring critical thinking, a strong attention to detail and a desire to “dig in” to learn the business while being mindful of the strong culture and commitment of the Company to provide the best care possible for our patients and residents across Canada.This position will be based at our Head Office in Markham, Ontario. Extendicare offers a hybrid working environment.Key responsibilities include:Support the annual budgeting process, including preparation, monthly forecasting, and budget-to-actual variance analysis with clear explanations in collaboration with operationsPrepare and deliver management reporting packages, including standard and recurring reports, KPIs, and insightful commentary for strategic analysisPartner with Finance Business Partners and operational teams to generate insights, interpret financial results, and support data-driven decision-making (e.g., staffing, capex, operational initiatives)Gather and ensure timely submission of required regulatory and government reporting for assigned facilitiesBuild and maintain strong relationships with business unit leaders, including facility administrators, nursing leadership, and operations teamsEnsure compliance with Extendicare’s accounting systems and procedures, and support resolution of field-related financial issuesDrive process improvements and efficiencies leveraging financial and business expertiseCoach and support Financial Analysts, and contribute to special projects as requiredPresent financial insights to senior leadership in a clear and concise mannerComplete other duties as assignedWhat we’re looking for:Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting3-5 years experience in operations finance and/or accounting related roleCPA certificationStrong communication skills with the ability to multitask in a dynamic and fast pace environmentExcellent organizational, computer and analytical skills; advanced working knowledge of ExcelAccounting experience with large-scale Enterprise Reporting systems, knowledge of Workday preferredWhat Extendicare has to offer:At Extendicare, we believe that working as a team creates an environment that allows us to reach our potential.
