The Senior Financial Analyst role with Alberta Health Services, in the Automation and Business Systems team, focuses on translating financial data into actionable insights for provincial health agencies. You will orchestrate complex analyses, forecasting, and cost optimization while aligning with GAAP and internal directives.
You will automate reporting, develop data models, and support cross-functional decision making.
The Senior Financial Analyst position in the Automation and Business Systems team has a key role in the ongoing implementation of strategies for the Finance portfolio. They have an expert level of knowledge in interpretation of financial and/or accounting reports for the Provincial Health Agencies/Provincial Health Corporations in accordance with policies and procedures and knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and financial directives issued by Alberta Ministries. This role as part of Health Shared Services will provide services to our partners within all PHAs and PHCs. Furthermore, this role understands the project lifecycle and demonstrated experience with process improvement and automation.In this role, you will bridge the gap between business and financial needs by leveraging advanced technical tools and methodologies. You will be responsible for conducting in-depth data analysis, developing data models, automating reporting processes, and providing insights to improve decision making. Effective communication to all levels within an organization is a strength as is developing strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. This highly organized, self-lead, client-focused individual is a critical thinker with exceptional problem-solving skills with an aptitude for technical solutions and is committed to delivering quality results.
As a Senior Financial Analyst, you will coordinate and/or prepare complex financial and statistical analysis and reports, along with providing interpretation of analyses and reports to support business and external requirements. Your work will be focused on budgets, forecasting, recommendations for program and/or cost efficiencies and development or enhancements to processes and controls. In addition, you will coordinate and monitor progress of financial projects, as well as coach and guide other department staff such as Financial Analysts.
Post secondary degree specializing in accounting or related field (e.g. economics, statistics).
Post secondary degree specializing in Business, Accounting or related field Professional accounting designation preferred. Candidates without a designation may be considered if demonstrated significant progress towards completion of designation requirements and extensive experience. Broad knowledge and experience in Alberta health organizations is an asset along with the ability to adapt to a dynamically changing environment. Knowledge/experience in Oracle EBS, SQL, DAX, Microsoft Fabric, Power BI, Power Apps, Power Automate, Copilot, ServiceNow, Automation tools, Microsoft Office Suite.
Experience identifying, prioritizing, and implementing technology solutions that support operational excellence and organizational transformation.Project Management and Change Management experience/skills
