Who we need

Reporting to the Director of Finance, we are hiring a Senior Financial Accountant to strengthen our financial operations and support strategic decision-making. You will own core accounting processes, oversee month-end and year-end closes, and lead the preparation of accurate financial statements. Collaboration across departments, process improvements, and audit support will be key aspects of your role. You will also mentor junior staff and influence how we work.

This is a full-time, remote role with the option to work from our location at 45 Progress Road.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial reporting and analysis: Lead the preparation and analysis of financial statements, ensuring compliance with GAAP/IFRS and internal policies. Conduct financial analyses to support management decisions.
  • Month-end and year-end close: Oversee close procedures, perform reconciliations, prepare journal entries, and ensure accurate reporting.
  • Process improvement and compliance: Identify opportunities to streamline reporting and strengthen controls, ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Mentorship and development: Support and review junior staff work, fostering a culture of continuous learning.
  • Stakeholder engagement: Collaborate across departments, support special projects, and communicate results to management and external stakeholders.
  • Audits: Act as primary contact for auditors, prepare documentation, and ensure audit readiness.
  • CapEx and tax support: Manage CapEx requisitions and asset classifications, and support tax return filings.
Qualifications

Education and experience: Degree in Accounting or Finance, CPA or final exam passed, experience in full-cycle financial accounting, including audits and analysis.

Technical skills: Proficiency in Excel and accounting software; experience with Sage or ERP systems preferred.

Interpersonal skills: Clear communication, ability to explain complex info, foster relationships, and support junior staff.
