The Senior Financial Accountant is responsible for maintaining and growing the core accounting functions within the business. This role provides timely, accurate, and relevant financial information, supporting the continual improvement of the current financial structure and processes. The Senior Financial Accountant will be eager to learn and a self-starter, with the opportunity to be involved in different areas of our business and special projects. Key aspects of this role include internal financial reporting, cash flow management, capital asset maintenance, and internal control coordination.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate and timely financial statement packages for submission to management and the parent company.
• Assist in the month-end and year-end close process and meet scheduled deadlines.
• Preparation of the weekly cash flow forecast.
• Monthly maintenance and review of the capital asset subledger, as well as analysis of the capital budget.
• Coordinate and assist with the completion of both internal and external audits.
• Partner with Fleet, Operations, and other functions to provide timely, accurate, complete, and relevant financial information, ensuring accurate forecasts and supporting other financial planning and analysis initiatives.
• Participate in the research and implementation of appropriate accounting standards, policies, and procedures, as required.
• Liaise with external auditors as required.
• Prepare monthly regulatory filings in accordance with provincial and federal regulations.
• Communicate and exchange information with all levels and departments within the organization and subsidiaries.
• Additional duties as necessary.

Requirements

• Minimum 2-4 years of accounting experience.
• CPA designation or pursuing a professional accounting designation.
• Ambitious self-starter who can improve processes and controls.
• Ability to multitask and meet several deadlines simultaneously.
• Advanced Excel skills.
• Familiar with ERP systems, experience with Sage is an asset.
