Our client is searching for a Senior Financial Accountant to join their team. This role will be responsible for maintaining and growing the core accounting functions within the business. A successful candidate would be eager to learn and a self-starter, with the opportunity to be involved in different areas of the business and special projects.
Your success will be defined by your ability to :
- Prepare accurate and timely financial statement packages to be submitted to management
- Assist in month-end and year-end close processes and meet scheduled deadlines
- Prepare weekly cash flow forecasts
- Provide indirect oversight to the AR department, using strategic thinking and investigative analysis to prepare weekly cash flow forecasts
- Coordinate and assist with the completion of internal and external audits
- Partner with various teams to provide timely, accurate, complete, and relevant financial information to ensure accurate forecasts and support other financial planning and analysis initiatives
- Participate in research and implementation of appropriate accounting standards, policies, and procedures as required
- Liaise with external auditors as needed
- Prepare monthly regulatory filings in accordance with provincial and federal regulations
- Communicate and exchange information with all levels and departments within the organization and subsidiaries
Your strengths include :
- 5+ years of accounting experience is ideal
- CPA designation or working towards it is considered an asset
- Familiarity with ERP systems; experience with Sage 300 CRE or Sage Intacct is an asset
- Previous property, plant, and equipment (PPE) accounting experience is an asset
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ambitious self-starter capable of improving processes and controls
- Ability to multitask and meet multiple deadlines
- Advanced Excel skills
- Analytical and detail-oriented
