Job description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Senior Financial Accountant to join our team and play a key role in supporting the finance operations of a growing global engineering consultancy.

This position reports directly to the Manager, Finance & Tax and has an indirect functional reporting relationship to Corporate Finance. This role works closely with internal teams, business leaders, and external service providers. The role provides broad exposure across accounting, financial reporting, compliance, forecasting, and business analysis, with opportunities to further develop international accounting and cross-border experience.

The position supports operations across Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Sweden, and the Dominican Republic, with opportunities to work with additional jurisdictions as the business continues to grow. The successful candidate will take ownership of assigned accounting and reporting processes, proactively investigate and resolve issues, and support accurate and timely financial reporting and compliance across multiple entities and jurisdictions. Candidates with a strong technical and analytical foundation, curiosity, attention to detail, and a demonstrated ability to learn and adapt quickly are encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare monthly journal entries, including accruals, fixed asset depreciation, prepaid amortization, amortization of leasehold inducements, reclassifications, intercompany billings, business unit allocations, and other adjustments.
  • Prepare and review monthly account reconciliations for multiple international entities.
  • Maintain the fixed asset register and reconcile to the general ledger.
  • Review bank and credit card reconciliations and investigate discrepancies as required.
  • Prepare and review weekly and monthly business unit management reports.
  • Perform reconciliations between the BST system and local financial systems.
  • Analyze financial results, explain key variances and share insights.
  • Review and approve payment requests, vouchers, and other financial transactions.
  • Review intercompany settlements, billings, reconciliations, and withholding tax-related entries, and assist with the preparation and maintenance of intercompany agreements.
  • Prepare 5-week rolling cash forecast for international entities.
  • Prepare quarterly forecasts, backlog analysis and support the annual business plan.
  • Review and assist with the preparation of annual entity financial statements.
  • Coordinate local statutory audits and filings (UK, Ireland, Dominican Republic, Sweden) and support the consolidated audit.
  • Liaise with external local accountants and service providers.
  • Support accounting and corporate compliance requirements associated with existing and new international operations, including researching requirements in unfamiliar jurisdictions.
  • Review internal controls and identify opportunities to improve processes, procedures, and reporting efficiency.
  • Review internal controls, improve processes and maintain country-specific finance handbooks.
  • Act as a key finance resource for the BST system, supporting new processes and system-related initiatives as required.
  • Collaborate with finance teams, business leaders, and external advisors across multiple jurisdictions to resolve accounting and reporting matters.
  • Provide support on additional accounting, finance, compliance, and business initiatives as required.
We value the knowledge and experience you have gained to date and are willing to help you build on it. We do, however, request the following minimum qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related discipline, and a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation.
  • 5+ years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in a multi-entity, multi-currency environment; international experience is an asset.
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to deliver accurate work under deadlines.
  • Strong Excel skills; experience with BST11 or a similar ERP system is an asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn quickly, adapt and perform research.
  • Proactive problem-solver who can investigate issues and recommend solutions.
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of assigned responsibilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; collaborate effectively with colleagues across different business units and jurisdictions.
  • Experience in professional services, engineering consulting or project-based business is considered a strong asset.
Along with continued career development, KCB offers:
  • Hybrid home-office work opportunities.
  • Competitive wages with bonus potential.
  • Vacation policy that aligns to your experience.
  • Paid volunteer time, overtime, and sick days.
  • Professional registration support.
