Job summary

Klohn Crippen Berger Ltd. (KCB) is seeking a Senior Geochemist to support our mining and environmental consulting services.

You will conduct geochemical analyses of soil, rock, and water samples, provide technical expertise to clients, and develop geochemical models to predict long‑term trends. This role involves collaborating with engineers, geologists, hydrogeologists, and environmental scientists to design monitoring programs, prepare regulatory submissions, and mentor junior staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Geology/Earth Science/Environmental Geoscience with geochemistry focus.
• 10+ years of geochemical analysis experience and regulatory exposure.
• Professional registration (e.g., P.Geo., P.Eng.) is required or in process.
• Valid driver’s license (Class 5) for field work and travel.

Responsibilities

• Conduct geochemical analyses of soil, rock, and water samples for environmental assessment.
• Provide technical expertise and strategic advice on mining projects: waste, ARD, water treatment.
• Develop geochemical models to predict long-term trends and mitigation effectiveness.
• Collaborate with engineers, geologists, hydrogeologists, and environmental scientists on monitoring and remediation.
• Prepare reports, presentations, and regulatory submissions for clients and authorities.
• Manage projects or environmental tasks within multi-disciplinary programs.
• Mentor and train junior staff; identify opportunities to advance KCB's geochemistry business.
• Complete field work and travel within Canada and internationally as needed.

Klohn Crippen Berger Ltd. (KCB) is seeking a Senior Geochemist to support our mining and environmental consulting services.

This role will give you the opportunity to:

• Conduct geochemical analyses of soil, rock, and water samples to assess environmental impact and identify potential risks associated with mining activities.

• Provide technical expertise and strategic advice to clients on geochemical aspects of mining projects, including waste management, acid rock drainage, and water treatment.

• Develop and implement geochemical models to predict long‑term trends and assess the effectiveness of mitigation measures.

• Collaborate with engineers, geologists, hydrogeologists, and environmental scientists to design and implement monitoring programs and remediation strategies.

• Prepare reports, presentations, and regulatory submissions to communicate findings and recommendations to clients and regulatory authorities.

• Manage projects or environmental tasks within broader multi‑disciplinary projects.

• Stay current with industry developments, and best practices in geochemistry.

• Mentor and train junior staff to support the growth of the geoscience team.

• Identify and pursue opportunities for advancing KCB’s mining geochemistry business.

• Complete field work and business travel within Canada and Internationally as Project work requires.

We respect the knowledge and experience you have gained to date and are willing to help you build on it. We do however request the following minimum qualifications:

• A Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Earth Science, or Environmental Geoscience specializing in Geochemistry or equivalent; specialization in Surface Water Quality, Hydrogeology, or Contaminant Transport is also an asset.

• 10+ years’ experience related to geochemical analysis.

• Professional registration (e.g., P.Geo., P.Eng.).

• Valid driver’s license, Class 5.

• Experience with geochemical modeling software such as PHREEQC and Geochemist’s Workbench, Python, R, GIS, database software, Power BI, Goldsim, Leapfrog, Openground, and/or multivariate statistical packages.

• Experience in environmental consulting and/or the mining sector.

• Respect for applying a high standard of professional and scientific rigor to all projects and deliverables.

• Ability to work flexible hours as required for projects.

• Strong initiative, problem solving ability, innovation, and commitment to technical excellence as well as your enthusiasm and drive toward long‑term success.

• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills including your experience in writing proposals, technical reports, and general project correspondence.

• Team spirit, interpersonal skills and your ability to build long‑term, successful relationships with project teams and clients.

• Comprehension and application of health, safety and environmental principles, and a commitment to quality management systems.
