Job summary

BC Hydro seeks an experienced electrical engineer with a background in protection and control to support Island Generation and thermal plants. Based in Campbell River, this permanent, full-time role provides field-focused technical leadership to crews and management for troubleshooting, maintenance, and return-to-service decisions.

You will review maintenance programs, support asset management and capital projects, and collaborate with contractors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering; P.Eng eligibility with EGBC.
• Experience with protection & control for thermal/hydro plants.
• Strong field engineering, troubleshooting, and maintenance leadership.
• Ability to read drawings and manage engineering records.

Responsibilities

• Provide field engineering support for Island Generation and other stations.
• Lead troubleshooting, urgent equipment issues, and return-to-service decisions.
• Review and improve maintenance programs and strategies.
• Support asset management and capital projects with technical input.
• Coordinate with contractors and lead root-cause analyses.
