Job summary

BC Hydro’s Island Generation (ICG) in Campbell River, BC, seeks an experienced Maintenance and Operations Manager to lead up to 10 unionized staff at a large thermal facility. You will supervise daily operations, uphold safe work practices, manage maintenance programs, and guide budget planning while ensuring regulatory compliance and environmental stewardship.

The role requires power engineering credentials (First Class preferred; Second Class with progression) and 10+ years in

Qualifications

• First Class Power Engineering preferred; BC/Interprovincial Second Class considered with progression toward First Class.
• 10+ years in operations/maintenance for a large industrial organization; 7+ years in managing crews or projects in a unionized setting.
• Drivers' License: Class 5 required.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily operations and safe work practices for staff and contractors.
• Resolve operational and maintenance constraints at a large thermal plant.
• Manage emergency response activities and coordinate with specialists.
• Oversee staff training, authorizations, performance and safety.
• Plan maintenance programs and outages; manage budgets and materials.
