Job summary

FlatironDragados is seeking an experienced Estimator to lead bid preparation by analyzing specifications and contract plans to ensure cost-effective quantities and methods aligned with pursuit, schedule and price goals.

Position requires a Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field and 10+ years in construction estimating or cost control, including experience with alternative delivery methods and strong technical writing skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management or related field.
• 10+ years of experience in construction, estimating or cost control.
• Specialized knowledge in alternative construction delivery methods.
• Experience with large or complex pursuit projects.
• Strong technical writing skills.

Responsibilities

• Reviews proposal specifications, drawings, attend pre-bid meetings to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate.
• Reviews and incorporates historical data into unit and person-hour figures.
• Provides technical input regarding project and contract risks to lead estimator, ensures alignment with schedule and cost goals.
• Prepares discipline estimates by complete takeoffs and material quantity calculations from drawings.
• Monitors client addenda and advises estimating team on changes during the estimate period.
• Assists with design review options and recommends cost-effective solutions.
• Partners with estimating team to hand off projects between pursuit and management teams.
• Researches and recommends vendors and subcontractors to meet pursuit and cost goals.
