The Senior Civil Estimator will lead the preparation of accurate and competitive cost estimates for heavy civil projects, including transportation and bridge work, across various delivery models. This role requires strong technical expertise, strategic thinking, and the ability to mentor junior staff while collaborating with internal teams and external partners.

Description
Lead the planning and execution of tendering strategies for civil infrastructure projects
Prepare accurate, timely cost estimates by analyzing drawings, specifications, and supplier/subcontractor inputs
Perform detailed quantity takeoffs and develop project cost breakdowns using historical data and estimating tools
Draft preliminary schedules to support project planning
Mentor and support junior estimators and admin staff throughout the bidding process
Source and evaluate pricing from subcontractors and suppliers
Review and validate estimates prepared by team members to ensure accuracy and competitiveness
Support project teams with cost forecasting, change order pricing, and claims analysis
Manage bid documentation, including addenda and proposal submissions
Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, subcontractors, and clients
Attend site visits and key project meetings, including pre-bid, pre-award, and post-award sessions
Assist with project start-up by coordinating handoffs to project managers
Negotiate major purchases and subcontract agreements; review related documentation
Help maintain and improve estimating systems, databases, and cost tracking tools
Profile
7-10 years of experience in the heavy civil construction sector, with a focus on transportation and bridge projects
At least 5 years of direct experience as an Estimator in heavy civil construction
Diploma or degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Estimating, or a related field
Strong ability to interpret construction drawings, specs, and contract documents
Proven ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Proficient in estimating software such as Heavy Bid or similar platforms
Advanced skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); knowledge of Bluebeam and scheduling software is an asset
Strong interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills
Valid driver's license and flexibility to travel as needed
