Middle/Senior School Athletic Director
Full Time/Permanent
Commencing August 2025

The Country Day School’s new Middle/Senior School Athletic Director will play a key role in shaping and developing our athletic program, ensuring that athletics remain an essential component in our commitment to providing Education with Balance. The ideal candidate, along with a passion for sport, will bring to this position outstanding communication, interpersonal and organizational skills. This position demands impeccable integrity, positivity, flexibility and a deep affinity for working with coaches, athletes and the broader school community to ensure a comprehensive and supportive program.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Furthering and developing CDS’s athletics vision
  2. Collaborating closely with the JS Director of Athletics
  3. Guiding the progress of and providing mentorship for our coaches and athletes
  4. Being a part of school spirit opportunities/initiatives and overseeing lunch intramurals
  5. Seeking out and providing the opportunity for Professional Development for coaches
  6. Overseeing the group of Athletic Student Leaders as they mentor their peers and younger athletes
  7. Coaching at least one team throughout the year
  8. Teaching a .4 course load (2 courses/year)
  9. Planning, scheduling and hosting weekend tournaments and championship finals
  10. Being a member of the CISAA Athletic Executive and overseeing its functioning
  11. Creating and maintaining adequate communication channels with parents, athletes, coaches, and the JS Director of Athletics
  12. Assigning coaching roles to faculty which meet the needs of the students and faculty
  13. Assessing the state of the program and deciding on the refinement of programming to best serve the CDS community
  14. Organizing and preparing three culminating athletic assemblies at the end of each of the three terms
  15. Scheduling athletic fixtures with other schools for all our teams from Grade 7 through 12
  16. Scheduling buses, officials, and athletic therapists where applicable for athletic fixtures
  17. Helping design, purchase, organize, and allocate uniforms
  18. Facilitating the ordering, distribution, collection, and maintenance of equipment
  19. Managing the budget for Athletics
  20. Other duties as assigned
